Hello!
One of my current projects is developing a fabric application for a window seat that is located in one of the most beautiful kitchens I've ever seen. While it is visually beautiful, it is also constructed with the finest details and workmanship. I think the best part of it is the scale. The designer created the perfect scale of cabinetry for the space.
So this window seat has angles and is built in a bay window. I've worked with a few bay windows over the years with drapery installations, this is my first window seat in a bay window. When discussing it with the homeowner I envisioned a relaxing spot enjoying a cup of tea and reading. This client has a lovely calm, serene manner that draws you in, it makes sense that the space is indicative of her personality.
Here is the challenge when there is a definitive idea stuck in my head, I have to find it.
In this case, it's the fabrics that I see in my mind's eye. My search did take a bit of time but I found what I was looking for.
The fabrics of the toss cushions are the star of the show. These are what you will catch your eye on the window seat. I did this to balance out the subtle colouring of the kitchen, yet not distract from the beauty of it.
The main fabric is the washed floral print, it has a vintage vibe which is perfect for this client. The small pretty red (has undertones of pink which the client prefers) is a delicate cotton print. To balance is a nubby texture that has a beautiful hand to it.
The fabric application for the body of the window seat cushion is a textural neutral in a cotton blend. This is a hardy fabric that will wear well and has built in stain resistance.
I love pompoms.
This space calls for some pompoms and I happen to know that the client is partial to them as well.
You can't discern the scale from the image but these are a good size and will add the perfect amount of whimsy to the window seat.
I'm looking forward to seeing this completed, it will add the finishing touch to the kitchen space.
Live well + enjoy!
